Telenor's Viber public chat hits one million followers

13th October, 2016, Yangon - Telenor Myanmar Limited (“Telenor”) celebrates this week for reaching more than one million followers on Viber public chat page, launched late last year.

Complementing this milestone Telenor and Viber are jointly launching the Viber new sticker pack for Fullmoon day of Thadinkyut Festival that will begin in mid-October. As part of the partnership users can download the “Playful in Thadingyut” Sticker Pack from the Viber Sticker Market without data charges from Telenor network. Telenor also offers free Viber messaging and Facebook, where users can chat and send stickers for free using Telenor Internet.

Earlier, in partnership with Viber, Telenor has introduced ‘Jar Yit and Sar Oo’ sticker pack, marking Myanmar New Year (Thingyan Water Festival), and ‘We Love Myanmar’ stickers that outline Myanmar people’s pride and passion for their country.

“We believe many more Telenor users will subscribe the Viber public chat page as we continue to serve growing number of subscribers through our largest and fastest growing data network in Myanmar. In additionally, we are glad to introduce these stickers’ packs, in partnership with Viber, as part of supporting efforts to help maintain and cherish local culture in Myanmar,” said Telenor’s Chief Marketing Officer Joslin Myrthong.

Building on Myanmar’s love for social media, Telenor has also introduced a tariff plan ‘Sait Kyite’ since July this year that offers customers free Viber and Facebook, and the plan becomes one of the most favourite offers among mobile users across the country. Of Telenor’s more than 17 million subscribers about 65% are active data users.
