April 6, 2016, Yangon – Telenor Myanmar Limited (“Telenor”) today announced its first participation in the water festival with a decorated car (A Hla Pya Yin) to perform the audiences in Yangon and Mandalay cities.
“The water festival (Thingyan) is the biggest nationwide event for people to celebrate the New Year days. Telenor always respects local cultures and wants to be a part of local communities. This is one of our values and also a reason of arranging this A Hla Pya Yin to perform local communities,” said Joslin E Myrthong, Chief Marketing Officer at Telenor Myanmar.
He added that with the traditional Thingyan essence, Thingyan dances, music and other entertainment programs will be performed for the audiences.
“The famous singers; R Zar Ni, Tin Zar Maw, Connie, Phoe Thauk Kyar and Har Ngar Kaung comedian group will perform at A Hla Pya Yin. We believe that our customers and all people will love to watch it. We also keep promise to continue our products and services according to local culture perspectives,” Joslin said.

Telenor today owns 5,000 towers nationwide and aims to reach 7,000 towers by the end of 2016. With more than 14 million customers, 62% of population is covered by Telenor network in 12 different states/ regions and Nay Pyi Taw. Telenor will launch its network soon in Rakhine and Chin states.
Telenor shops open during the water festival
For the customers’ easiness to buy and search services at Telenor during the water festival, Telenor will also open 28 Telenor’s Company-Owned-Company-Operated (CoCo), Franchised-owned-Franchised- operated (FOFO) shops from April 12 to 16 from 7am to 11am.
