Telenor today also launches a parental guide book for children to be aware of the potential risks that need to be mitigated when children are online. As today children could be tomorrow’s leaders, the company aims to help parents guide their kids for accessing a wealth of useful and appropriate information safely.
The guide book “How to Talk to Your Children about the Internet” covers introduction to the Internet, why should parents talk to their kids about the Internet, what should parents say, and some real-life stories of kids and the Internet.

“Over the last two years, Myanmar has seen rapid changes with respect to the internet adoption. A major reason behind this has been the growth of mobile networks, as digital literacy starts to rise, and services and devices become more affordable. This creates a need for all industry players to play a part in driving awareness for the need to be more resilient and more responsible internet users, and for internet users themselves to aspire to this aim,” said PetterFurberg, Chief Executive Officer at Telenor Myanmar.
At today’s event, Telenor Myanmar’s Head of Business Sustainability Min Thu and UNICEF Myanmar’s Child Protection Specialist also TeonaAslanishvili led the panel discussion that attracted over 100 participants.
Net Monday is a monthly industry event organized by Telenor Myanmar to promote a rich dialogue on topics relevant to the growing digital and online community in Myanmar. Each event brings together a panel of local and international subject matter experts to discuss and debate specific topics of interest to local programmers, web designers, bloggers, developers, technical experts, and representatives from local or international Internet and technology companies. Previous Net Monday events were held in a number of different towns across the country, including Magwe, Mawlamyine, Bago, Hmawbi and Yangon.
