Only 15 Days left: Final call to register all SIMs

• More than 80% of Telenor customers have already registered their SIMs as of today
• Failure to register SIM cardswill be considered to be non-compliant with government regulations and will result in service disruption

16thMarch 2017, Yangon - Telenor Myanmar Limited (“Telenor”)urges remaining unregistered customers to register their SIM cards as the SIM registration deadline is just two weeks away. More than 80% of Telenor customers have already registered their SIMs as of today.The Posts and Telecommunications Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications has directed all mobile operators to register their SIM cards for all customers by 31st March 2017.

“Our focus within two weeks is to help remaining customers register their SIMs conveniently but as soon as possible. In Myanmar most people love to use Facebook and Viber, and since early this month our customers can even register via our Facebook’s Messenger and 35 Viber phone numbers easily and quickly. For those who are not familiar with online channels, thousands of physical channels are also available nationwide. We strongly urge our customers to register their SIMs at their earliest convenience,” said Joslin Myrthong, Chief Marketing Officer at Telenor Myanmar.

Telenor now has 9 online and physical registration channels available for customers to register their SIMs. Telenor’s online registration channels are website (http://ecaf.telenor.com.mm) ; My Telenor App (http://bit.ly/mytelenor24); Facebook messenger (https://www.facebook.com/TelenorMyanmar); Viber (09790113252 to 3261; 09790285466 to 5490 &09790134738) and Email (reg@telenor.com.mm).



Physical channels include 86 Kanbawza Bank branches; more than 42,000 designated retail shops; 90 Telenor branded shops; SIM registration trainings by Telenor’s Lighhouse entrepreneurs; and ‘SIM Registration Days’ nationwide.



Customers who have already submitted registration are also requested to be patient as completion of SIM registration process may take a few days. Customers are requested to check their SIM registration status prior to beginning registration process. Customers may check their SIM registration status by dialing *979*3*3# or sending REG to 500 and registration status will be informed via SMS. Customers who wish to change SIM ownership status may do so at Telenor’s 90 branded shops in major cities and towns throughout the country.

SIM registration is a requirement mandated by law and with registered SIM, customers will enable to securely use services like mobile money, and will get protection in event of SIM loss or other service-related issues. Failure to register their SIM card is considered to be non-compliant with government regulations and will result in service disruption to customers’ subscribed mobile services. The mobile services will continue to be disrupted until SIM card is registered.
