- See Zar Yeik Old Age Care Center, Residential Nursery and Training School for Girls and Network Activities Group to receive 50%, 37% and 13% each of MMK 170 million donation
17th October, 2016, Yangon - Telenor Myanmar Limited (“Telenor”) today handovers MMK 170 million to three designated charitable organizations in support of needy children, and elderly people as part of marking its 2nd anniversary celebration in Myanmar.
The three organisations are See Zar Yeik Old Age Care Center, Residential Nursery and Training School for Girls under Department of Social Welfare, Mandalay Region, and Network Activities Group (NAG). The donation amount to be received by each organization was based on the percentage of customer votes they receive.
Telenor launched an interactive donation campaign late September in conjunction with the company’s 2nd Anniversary where Telenor has pledged donations of MMK170 million – 10 Kyat for each of its 17 million customers – and sought the participation of customers to channel these donations to any of the three identified organisations.
During the September 29th to October 8th campaign all customers were invited to select their favourite recipient organisation via SMS. The 10 Kyat per customer donation and the SMS were NOT deducted from the subscriber’s main balance.
See Zar Yeik Old Age Care Center received the most overwhelming votes from the subscribers with 50%, Residential Nursery and Training School for Girls 37% and Network Activities Group 13%. They receive MMK 85 million, MMK 62.9 million and MMK 22.1 million respectively. The voting results were validated by MN Associate Intellectual Property Law Firm.
“We are very much delighted by the support from our customers in this “Stronger2gether” donation campaign. This campaign marks the important 2nd year anniversary milestone for Telenor’s operations in Myanmar where we celebrate by giving back to the community we are a part of. I would like to thank our customers for participating in this innovative donation campaign,” said Lars Erik Tellmann, Chief Executive Officer of Telenor Myanmar.
