What is Sustainability

Sustainability is an integral part of who we are and how we do business. We look at mobile communications as an enabler that can make positive impact on people's lives, on business and on society at large.

Our business sustainability efforts rest on two key strategic pillars: extending the benefits of mobile communications across all our markets and integrating responsible business practices in all aspects of our operations.

Extending benefits of mobile

The telecom industry has the power to transform society, which is why corporate responsibility is an important part of how Telenor operates. Telenor places a high priority on contributing to the communities in markets where it operates, and will build on our strong track record of working with the government and relevant organizations to develop a corporate responsibility and community engagement program in Myanmar.

Creating shared value

Telenor will implement CSR initiatives in Myanmar that will create shared value for people, society and business, and contribute to Myanmar's social and economic development in a range of areas. This includes working with local partners to build "Community Information Centres" with the aim of fostering user adoption of mobile services and Internet in rural areas and improving digital literacy through nationwide initiatives for schoolchildren.

Responsible business

Telenor strives to integrate responsible business practices in all aspects of our operation. Our main goals are to ensure continuous improvements in all areas where we identify challenges and to comply with all relevant international standards. Responsible business practices in the Telenor Group are centred on three core areas: environmental impact, social impact and governance.
