Telenor is committed to environmentally responsible operations in Myanmar and is operating in accordance with Myanmar environmental laws and regulations.

Telenor will also undertake an environmental impact assessment – including broad public consultations and publishing of the results – as described in Myanmar’s Environmental Conservation Act.

As in our other operations and stated in our policies, we will establish and implement an Environmental Management System (EMS) based on the ISO 14001standard. Special focus areas will be:

  • Environmental Impact of Telecom Installations
  • Energy Consumption and CO2 Emissions
  • Hazardous substances and Waste Management
  • Supply Chain Sustainability

Telenor Myanmar is open to implementing an operational model in which basic network infrastructure is shared among the country’s mobile telecommunication service providers. This will reduce the overall investment costs as well as the impact on environment.

Telenor is committed to minimising CO2 emissions in Myanmar, such as through the use of solar power, and the ambition will thus be to minimise energy consumption. Telenor will ensure that comprehensive energy efficiency requirements are part of all procurement processes for services and equipment.
