Telenor Myanmar boosts operations with headquarters in Yangon
Telenor Myanmar today announced the official opening of the company's headquarters in Yangon. When fully-operational, the 13-storey Telenor House will accommodate around 600 headquarter employees and support Telenor's growing team in their efforts to deliver on the company's commitment to provide high-quality, affordable and accessible mobile communications services to people across the country.
Telenor Myanmar's headquarters in Yangon will house a wide-range of facilities for employees, including the Telenor Myanmar Academy, a centre for best-in-class professional development programs for all employees. Reflecting Telenor Group's people-centric culture and management philosophy of creating an inclusive, open and vibrant work environment for employees, Telenor House will adopt open-space design principles and recreational areas to promote cross-functional communication and collaboration – in line with the dynamic and innovative approach to workplace environments for which Telenor's offices around the world are recognized. The ground floor of the building will also feature a Telenor retail shop for walk-in customers requiring information or support on Telenor's products and services.
"At Telenor, we believe that there is only one way to differentiate and that is through your people. In Myanmar, we are bringing together the best local professionals with international experts under one umbrella. We call it The Telenor Way – our people-centric approach to building a performance culture. We expect the next few years to be especially dynamic and fast-moving, and having a headquarters from which we can drive strategies and grow our team puts us in a strong position to achieve a successful network roll-out and launch of products and services. It also underscores our commitment to be a long-term investor to Myanmar and to contribute to the country's economic development," said Sigve Brekke, Chairman, Telenor Myanmar and Head of Telenor in Asia.
Telenor Myanmar Chief Executive Officer, Petter Furberg, said: "We are excited to have a headquarters that will be at the heart of Telenor Myanmar's business development and operations. In addition to serving as the main base for our employees throughout Myanmar, Telenor House will provide an inspiring working and learning environment that fosters collaboration among employees, and supports them in realizing their full potential and in building rewarding, long-term careers with Telenor Myanmar."
Telenor Myanmar plans to recruit 1,000 employees by the end of 2014, including employees who will be working in regional offices and on-the-ground at local sites and facilities as the company prepares for a network roll-out to all states and regions in Myanmar within five years.
Telenor House is located at No. 40, No. 1 Industrial Road, Yangon, and will have a total built-up area of 80,000 square feet when fully-operational in April 2014.
