Telenor’s Net Monday Promotes Developing Your Career Online

07 January, 2016 - Yangon

December 14, Mandalay – Telenor Myanmar Limited (Telenor) today celebrated its 22nd edition of Net Monday at University of Computer Studies in Taungoo, by promoting the internet as a means to develop one’s career.

Net Monday is a monthly industry event organized by Telenor Myanmar to promote a rich dialogue on topics relevant to the growing digital and online community in Myanmar. Each event brings together a panel of local and international subject matter experts to discuss and debate specific topics of interest to local programmers, web designers, bloggers, developers, technical experts, and representatives from local or international Internet and technology companies.

“With all the things that people globally use the Internet for, one of the most overlooked is in the field of career building and development. With resources, such as LinkedIn, and the numerous job databases that have appeared in Myanmar, and around the world, over the last few years, it’s never been easier to use the Internet to build a professional profile,” said Petter Furberg, CEO of Telenor Myanmar.

“However, being a new platform, the Internet has more options and choices when it comes to finding work and displaying talent than many people in a traditionally-minded market are used to dealing with. These questions, such as what sites to use, and how to, and not to, market your skills are going to be major questions in the future,” Mr. Furberg added.

At the event, panellists of Mr. Gjis Verheijke from, U Htoo Myint Naung from Technomation Co., Ltd and Telenor Myanmar raised points on the best apps supporting career development, the market for tech people today, and future trends for the Internet as a career development platform in Myanmar.

Previous Net Monday events were held in a number of different towns across the country, including Mandalay, Magwe, Mawlamying, Bago, Hmawbi and Yangon.
