The talks will mainly focus on the benefits of using internet for educational purpose, how to stay safe online and handle potential risks while highlighting the message of keeping children safe on the internet.

“Committed to bring benefits and to promote people’s daily lives, Telenor Myanmar is always ready to support and take part in whole some initiatives which can enrich people’s lives. As children are the ones who will build the future world, it is important to protect each and every child from any foreseeable harm and stimulate their potential. On this upcoming Universal Children’s day, Telenor will be together with the whole world by holding safe internet talks in Yangon Region, Kayin and Shan States places in order to deliver and promote the knowledge to the children on how to use internet safe and effectively,” said Min Thu, Head of Business Sustainability of Telenor Myanmar.

Telenor Myanmar’s Safe Internet program was launched in 2016 with the objective to educate youths across the country on how to stay safe online and utilize the internet responsibly. By using interactive animated videos, the program also provides parents with the tools to discuss the benefits of internet with their children. And from October this year a new segment about fake news was introduced.

Universal Children’s Day was established in 1954 and is celebrated on November 20th every year to promote international togetherness, awareness among children worldwide, and improving children’s welfare. Since 1990, Universal Children's Day also marks the anniversary of the date that the UN General Assembly adopted both the declaration and the convention on children's rights. On this day every year, mothers and fathers, teachers, nurses and doctors, government leaders and civil society activists and community elders, corporate moguls and media professionals as well as young people and children themselves take part in several activities and initiatives making Universal Children's Day relevant for their societies, communities and nations.

For this year Universal Children’s Day, everyone around the world will be celebrating by wearing blue clothing or accessories and share with the word on social media. They will also take part in the World’s largest lesson using the school activity packs. Similarly, several organizations and companies will also celebrate Universal Children’s Day by transforming their website and social media platforms into blue on that day. Telenor Myanmar have also created a Facebook profile frame dedicated for this occasion so that people can show their support to Universal Children’s Day.

Telenor Myanmar is running several programs on building foundations towards digital Myanmar as part of its corporate responsibility activities.
