48 players and more than 200 visitors participated in the tournament
Telenor Myanmar (“Telenor”) organized the Clash Royale (CR) tournament for the first time in Myanmar to the delight of thousands of avid CR gamers.
“We are witnessing growing e-sports in Myanmar as a result of enhanced internet quality and connectivity.As we have recently introduced superior 4G/LTE services in major cities throughout the country we expect e-sports industry to grow more. We are delighted to hold this tournament for the first time in Myanmar as part of our support to local e-sports community. We plan to organize more gaming events in the future and we urge e-sports fans to join our ‘Telenor Game On’ Facebook group to stay up to date with upcoming events,” said Joslin Myrthong, Chief Marketing Officer at Telenor Myanmar.
The two-day tournament, hosted at Junction City on June 19 and 20, involved some of the most intense and heart-pounding matches. The tournament began with 48 players in a double bracket knock-out system that culminates with the final match.
The stakes were also higher than ever with the biggest prize pool in a gaming tournament in Myanmar. At the end of the tournament, Sitt Nyein Soe (with the CR name “VizardNs”) was crowned King of the Telenor Clash Royale Tournament with Pyae Won Htet (with the CR name “Aizeth”) placing second and Tint Naing (with the CR name “TTP<3ZPP”) placing third. In the fourth position was Naing Lin Tun (with the CR name “Lee Young Pho”).
The competition also included cos-players, a photowall with props and character cutouts, and an open tournament for visitors to join in the action as well. The event received more than 200 visitors throughout the day.
Clash Royale is a free-to-play multiplayer online battle game in which a player needs to destroy the opponent’s towers. By winning the battles, the players will receive trophies.The players are ranked by their trophies and they can be promoted or demoted to different arenas by winning or losing the trophies.
