Explored opportunities for youths to further professional development through online education
Telenor Myanmar Limited (“Telenor”) held 30th edition of Net Monday at Pathein University on 12 December. More than 350 students joined the event that exploredopportunities for youths to further professional development through online education.
“With 18 million customers today out of which 64% are data users, it is important that our users, especially young people are aware of tremendous opportunities available online for their self-development. This is how our Net Monday aims to empower the young people to use online positively. We encourage the youths in Myanmar to effectively utilize the internet to help for their educational and professional development,” said Joslin E Myrthong, Chief Marketing Officer at Telenor Myanmar.
With 7000 sites covering almost all townships across Myanmar Telenor provides mobile and internet connectivity nationwide, and wider network coverage also offers youths in all parts of the country to explore unlimited online resources, Myrthong said.
During the event, representativesfrom Ayeyarwaddy Region Technological Development Committee, Victory Business Institute of Pathein, Fairway Technology Company Limited, Telenor and Pathein University discussed about the future of online learning challenges and opportunities in Myanmar, and how online and mobile internet development can help learning and career opportunities for young people.
Net Monday is a monthly industry event organized by Telenor Myanmar to promote a rich dialogue on topics relevant to the growing digital and online community in Myanmar. Each event brings together a panel of local and international subject matter experts to discuss and debate specific topics of interest to youths, local programmers, web designers, bloggers, developers, technical experts, and representatives from local or international Internet and technology companies.
Previous Net Monday events were held in a number of different towns across the country, including Magwe, Mawlamyine, Bago, Hmawbi and Yangon.
