Telenor Myanmar supported BarCamp 2016, held on 16-17 July in Pyay, Bago Region with objectives to assist development of information and communications technology, and to encourage young people to effectively utilize opportunities available online. Telenor supported previous BarCamps organized in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
At the event, Telenor’s head of Regional Business (Southern) Naing Myo Mon delivered an opening speech. Thu Yain Aung, Telenor’s Head of Online Marketing and Sao Nandar Zaw, an officer from Telenor’s Corporate Responsibility team also presented on social media marketing, social media and online security, Telenor’s Lighthouse program and MATE health app.
Telenor’s Corporate Responsibility initiatives
Lighthouse and MATE health app programs are parts of Telenor’s Corporate Responsibility initiatives in Myanmar. The initiatives also include Myanmar Mobile Education Project providing non-formal education to underprivileged children; and humanitarian relief support for disaster-affected communities. Telenor recently began Special Numbers Auctions that act as a platform to generate donations for various social organizations, including monastic schools and orphanages.
