Telenor to hold career and online education talks in universities

  • Net Monday help drives Telenor's 'Internet for All' agenda
  • Net Monday events during 2017 are expected to benefit more than 5000 youths and students

Telenor Myanmar Limited (“Telenor”) will continue its flagship monthly Net Monday talks in government and private universities nationwide. Net Monday events to be held throughout 2017 are expected to benefit more than 5,000 youths and university students. 

Telenor held its 31st edition of Net Monday at Pyay Technological University in Pyay Township, Bago Region on 23 January. Representatives from the university and Telenor opened the event that attracted about 400 students.

At the panel discussion, representatives from online payment services provider 2C2P, Café International, COMQUAS and Telenor explored opportunities for youths to unlock their career prospects by fully utilizing the Internet.

“We are here building a digital future for people of Myanmar, and as more people especially young people are getting familiar with Internet it is critical to empower them to use online positively and effectively. Numerous resources on career building and development such as LinkedIn and other job databases are already made available online and dedication will be required for youths to realize their dreams,” said Joslin E Myrthong, Chief Marketing Officer at Telenor Myanmar.

With more than 7200 sites covering almost all townships across Myanmar Telenor provides mobile and internet connectivity nationwide, and wider network coverage also offers youths in all parts of the country to explore unlimited online resources.

Net Monday is a monthly industry event organized by Telenor to promote a rich dialogue on topics relevant to the growing digital and online community in Myanmar. Each event brings together a panel of local and international subject matter experts to discuss and debate specific topics of interest to youths, local programmers, web designers, bloggers, developers, technical experts, and representatives from local or international Internet and technology companies.

Telenor will celebrate third anniversary of Net Monday in April 2017, and over the past years Telenor has partnered with international power houses such as Facebook, Google and Microsoft, reaching more than 60,000 audience, and discussing topics covering various aspects of the Internet and digital life, such as education, professional career, gaming, social networking, mobile financial services and safe internet.
