Net Mondays help drive Telenor's 'Internet for All' agenda
Net Monday events during 2017 are expected to benefit more than 50000 youths and students
Telenor Myanmar Limited (“Telenor”) yesterday held its Net Monday at Myeik University in Tanintharyi Region introducing students to business opportunities available online.
The 32nd edition of this Net Monday, joined by representatives from the university, Café International, ZYAM and Telenor, attracted more than 400 students. At the panel discussion, representatives together with the students discussed about the importance and effective applications of Internet in academic field, available business opportunities via online and the risks students may encounter when they are online.
“We are here building a digital future for people of Myanmar, and as more people especially young people are getting familiar with Internet it is critical to empower them to use online positively and effectively. Students can get more opportunities online, such as setting up their business and engaging more with the business community. I believe that this talk will empower them to be more energetic in their future life,” said Joslin E Myrthong, Chief Marketing Officer at Telenor Myanmar.
With more than 7200 sites covering almost all townships across Myanmar Telenor provides mobile and internet connectivity nationwide and wider network coverage also offers youths in all parts of the country to explore unlimited online resources.
Net Monday is a monthly industry event organized by Telenor to promote a rich dialogue on topics relevant to the growing digital and online community in Myanmar. Each event brings together a panel of local and international subject matter experts to discuss and debate specific topics of interest to youths, local programmers, web designers, bloggers, developers, technical experts, and representatives from local or international Internet and technology companies.
Telenor will celebrate its third anniversary of Net Monday in April 2017, and over the past years Telenor has partnered with international power houses such as Facebook, Google and Microsoft, reaching more than 60,000 audience, and discussing topics covering various aspects of the Internet and digital life, such as education, professional career, gaming, social networking, mobile financial services and safe internet.
