Telenor Myanmar has made multiple online and physical channels available to help our customers conveniently check ownership of SIM cards.
Since last year Telecom industry in Myanmar joined hands together to support the Myanmar government’s initiative in SIM registration in an effort to achieve 100 percent registration.
“Our focus now is to ensure that all of our customers have correctly registered their SIMs. This is why we are providing simple and hassle-free multiple channels for our customers to conveniently verify their ownership status and update if not accurate,” said Joslin Myrthong, chief marketing officer at Telenor Myanmar.
Correctly registered SIM cards is necessary for customers to replace SIM cards if if lost or broken. It also makes it easier to increase value of mobile services by adding services like mobile money.
Customers may check their SIM ownership status by sending “REG” to “500” or dialing *979*3*3#. Online channels to check the status include http://ecaf.telenor.com.mm and My Telenor App (http://bit.ly/mytelenor24). Customers may also visit Telenor’s close to 90 showrooms in major cities and towns throughout the country, or call Telenor’s Call Center to check the SIM ownership status. To change ownership status, customers are simply required to send their phone numbers together with clear front and back photocopies of valid identification documents (eg: National Registration Card). Customer’s SIM card should also be active for accepting verification codes.
Customers who wish to change ownership may conveniently do so via Telenor showrooms, Telenor’s website, MyTelenor App, Facebook messenger, email email@example.com and vibers (09790285473, 09790285478 and 09790285479) by simply submitting required documents.
In 2016, the Posts and Telecommunications Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications directed mobile operators to register their SIM cards for all customers and to permanently terminate unregistered SIMs after June this year.
