Takes over from incumbent CMO Sharad Mehrotra, who moves to Telenor India
Local talent rise as Ye Jhan appointed as Head of Sales and Distribution
Yangon, October 12, 2015 – Telenor Myanmar Limited (“Telenor”) today announced the appointment of Joslin E Myrthong,its current Head of Sales and Distribution, as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO).
Taking over from Myrthong as Head of Sales and Distribution is Ye Jhan, currently Head of National Sales in Telenor Myanmar. In this role, Ye Jhan will lead Telenor’s commercial operations in Myanmar spanning more than 50,000 points of sale served by 114 distributors, and 77 branded shops.
On the new appointments, CEO Petter Furberg said “I am delighted to announce Joslin as our new CMO in Telenor Myanmar. Our strategy in Myanmar has been built on being best at serving the mass market in Myanmar, and on being best at distribution. Joslin is a highly seasoned telecoms and marketing executive. His appointment to the role marks seamless continuity in our thriving commercial operations, our close relationship with our valued distribution network, and leadership of the marketing organisation.

A seasoned telecoms and marketing executive
Myrthong is an 18-year veteran in the telecoms business, which includes seven years in Telenor Group. He was a key member of the Telenor Myanmar bid team, and has played a central role in building the company’s marketing organisation and sales and distribution ecosystem today.
Before Myanmar, he was part of the start-up team in Telenor India (then Uninor), ending his tenure there as National Head of Distribution. Prior to joining Telenor Group, Myrthong helmed several leadership roles in sales and marketing in India, with Aircel India and Reliance Telecom. He is a graduate of the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta (IIMC), where he earned a Masterof Business Administration (MBA), and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in electronic and telecommunications engineering.
