Myanmar startup MM Tutors has been selected to travel to Singapore to join the Digital Winners Asia Event along with six other promising startups from across Telenor’s Asian accelerator programmes. It is a meeting of the minds and competition to win funding to expand into new territories.
The seven startups represent the most promising companies from accelerators - Phandeeyar in Myanmar, Telenor Velocity in Pakistan, Digi Challenge-for-Change in Malaysia, GP Accelerator in Bangladesh, and dtac Accelerate in Thailand. Together, they are some of Asia’s top tech trailblazers from pioneer markets recognized for their considerable potential.
The entrepreneurs will make their case for new market ventures, pitching to tech leaders from Singapore, South Asia and Southeast Asia at Telenor’s annual Digital Winners Asia event (DWA) on 19-20 September.
DWA will debate issues such as how much developing economies have to gain from startup ecosystems, how to secure funding, and what’s new and what’s coming to key startup scenes, both leading (such as Singapore) and emerging (Pakistan, Bangladesh, Myanmar).
The startups also get to attend the two-day Slush conference in Singapore where startups from the region will be pitching, listen to inspiring keynotes from tech leaders and meet potential investors.
“We’re always on the lookout for the best ideas for new digital products and services, as well as talents to help grow and nurture. Increasingly, we find them in the young startup communities in our Asian accelerators. As a digital service provider, one of our central goals is to improve our customers’ lives through new innovations and great services, so helping our local startups thrive and scale is part of how we do this,” explains Vegard Aas, Head of Innovation.
