October 5, 2016, Yangon – Telenor Myanmar Limited (“Telenor”) this week begins its internship program for students and fresh graduates from government and private institutions in Myanmar. Of over 200 applicants, 26 candidates are eligible to join the Telenor’s first internship program.
The interns are mainly from six universities and colleges - Thanlyin Technological University, West Yangon Technological University, Hmawbi Technological University, National Management Degree College, Myanmar Imperial College and Human Resource Management Institute. They join Telenor’s various business functions including human resources, finance, business operations, technology, learning and development, marketing, and corporate communications.
Telenor offered three-day onboarding session for the interns before joining their respective workplace. The onboarding session covered topics such as introduction to Telenor Group and Telenor way of work, code of conduct, and information security at the workplace. Moreover, interns were guided on approaches for garnering learning opportunity and practical experience during their internship period.
As part of introducing its internship program Telenor held a series of awareness sessions at the universities in August. The internship program will last between 1 and 3 months during which time interns will be on-boarded to the company’s ways of working, provided soft skills needed for workplace collaboration, guided by an intern supervisor and by Telenor’s Learning and Development teams, and finally awarded internship completion certificates. Telenor will continue to expand the collaboration with more universities in Myanmar in the future.
