Telenor continues provision of emergency relief assistance

10th August, 2016, Yangon – Telenor Myanmar Limited (“Telenor”) continues its support to flood-affected people through its local partner Network Activities Group (NAG) and so far people from 13 worst-affected villages in 4 townships in Mandalay, Magway and Bago regions received a week’s supply of food items including rice, oil, peas and drinking water.




On 9th August, Telenor’s Chief Marketing Officer Joslin Myrthong and staff joined the NAG team in a food aid distribution in Ponna Chan Village in Mandalay Region’s Tada Oo Township. With Telenor’s MMK 163.49 million (MMK 1634.9 Lakh) contribution, provision of emergency relief assistance to people in 11 flood-affected townships is ongoing and Telenor will continue its support to flood affected families as required in the coming weeks.



Telenor’s humanitarian relief support for disaster-affected communities including response to the flooding in Myanmar is initiated as a part of its Corporate Responsibility programme. In addition to disaster responses, Telenor’s Corporate Responsibility initiative also includes Telenor’s Light Houses for promoting digital literacy; Myanmar Mobile Education Project providing non-formal education to underprivileged children and mHealth for maternal and child health information app. Telenor also began Special Numbers Auctions that act as a platform to generate donations for various social organizations, including monastic schools and orphanages.
